Course Modules

Each module includes analyzing case studies, listening to lectures, and delving into readings. Take what you've learned and immediately apply it to your current work environment, or use it as a jumping-off point for further study. ​

Introductory Module
CULTURE & DIVERSITY

  • Global Culture. Develop a global mindset and awareness of cultural differences, similarities, and the impact on business.
  • Intercultural Communication. Understand the practice of communication across different cultural, generational, and gender contexts.
  • Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. Explore activities that create opportunities leveraging the unique backgrounds and characteristics of others, whether they be employees, customers, or business partners.

Module 1
STRATEGIC BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • Leadership & Motivation. Understand the fundamentals of leadership development and how to motivate and inspire others.
  • Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship. Develop an understanding of the behaviors and motivations of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.
  • Risk Management. Identify, assess, and prioritize organizational risks. Understand the application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the risk probability and impact.
  • Business Structure & Restructuring. Understand the significance of business structure to different stakeholders and how to restructure the firm by adapting to the environment.

Module 2
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

  • Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM). Explore the necessary competencies required to align HR’s role and activities with the organizational strategy. 
  • Team Training Dynamics & Collaboration. Explore dimensions of team dynamics and apply strategies to help teams work cooperatively and effectively to achieve common goals. 
  • Conflict Management & Decision Making. Identify sources of conflict and how to manage and resolve conflict for win-win outcomes. Explore different techniques for effective decision-making.
  • Business Ethics & Corporate Social Responsibility. Learn how to establish credibility, trust, reputation, and how companies manage their business processes to create a positive impact on society.
  • Labor & Employee Legal Issues. Understand legal issues and how to develop negotiation and decision-making strategies.

Module 3
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE

  • Understanding & Analyzing Financial Statements. Develop an understanding of key financial terminology and financial statements.
  • Working Capital Management & Budgeting. Explore the various methods for working capital management and techniques for budgeting.
  • Time Value of Money & Other Valuation Methods. Become knowledgeable of the concept of time value of money and its uses in corporate finance and long-term financial decision-making.
  • Money & Financial Institutions. Describe and discuss the money and capital markets and the role of the financial institutions within each market.
  • International Finance. Develop an understanding of international financial management and trade from the perspective of managers doing business globally.

Module 4
BUSINESS ECONOMICS

  • History & Overview of American Economic System. Present an overview of the history and forces that shape the U.S. economic system.
  • Microeconomic & Macroeconomic Principles. Learn to differentiate between microeconomic and macroeconomic principles.
  • Market Supply & Demand Dynamics. Develop an understanding of the relationship of Supply and Demand from a macro perspective as well as from the vantage point of a business. 
  • Understanding Fixed & Variable Costs of the firm. Explore the essential differences between Fixed and Variable costs of a firm, and how they affect strategy. 
  • Economic Policy. Compare and contrast the policy tools used by government to achieve economic growth.

Module 5
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Market Research & Analysis. Explore and apply the Six Steps of Market Research. Each team will design a simulated survey and collect data.
  • Fundamentals of Marketing & Branding. Execute product, price, place, and promotion strategy. Understand brand equity and its goal in measuring brand strength.
  • Digital Marketing Strategy. Compare and contrast the key elements of Digital Marketing, which includes an overview of SEM, Digital Promotion, and Social Media.
  • Social Media Management & Engagement. Apply Social Media and Engagement Strategy to build a strong, organic online presence and unique selling proposition.
  • International Marketing. Explore Marketing from an International perspective. Discuss the differences and similarities to domestic marketing in the U.S.
